TV를 보다가 귀에 감기는 노래가 들려왔습니다.

 

삼성전자의 AI(인공지능) 적용 세탁기 CF 배경음악이 주인공이었습니다.

 

올드팝 같은 분위기지만 상당히 세련된 느낌의 노래였습니다.

 

궁금하면 못 참는 성격이라...  유튜브로 go, go...

 

미국의 바이올린 연주자이자 가수인 Andrew Bird의 Sisyphus라는 곡이었습니다.

 

Sisyphus....

 

시시포스로 표기하는 것이 맞는 것 같은데 전 시지프스가 익숙합니다.

 

어릴 적 읽었던 책이 시지프스로 표기된 탓입니다. 알베르 카뮈의 시지프스 신화...

 

세탁기 CF의 기획자는 영리합니다. 인간을 곧 넘어설 수 있다는 인공지능을 적용한 세탁기 선전에

 

신을 속이고 골탕 먹이면서 오래 살다가 저승에 가서 영원히 올릴 수 없는 바위를

 

산 정상으로 옮기는 형벌을 받는 Sisyphus를 표현한 음악을 삽입했으니깐요.

 

카뮈가 해석한 시지프스 신화는 제 사춘기를 가득 채웠던 적이 있습니다.  ^^

 

허무주의자... 뭐 이런 것을 동경했었습니다. 아직도 그 흔적이 좀 남아... 있나? 있을까?... 있긴 했을까?...

 

Andrew Bird를 잘 몰랐는데 이번에 찾아 듣게 되었습니다.

 

세상은 넓고 들어야 할 노래는 너~~~무 많다는 것을 실감합니다.

 

장르를 넘나드는 곡들이 많고요, 상당히 특이한 곡도 있습니다.

 

아, 그리고 이 곡을 처음 들었을 때의 느낌인 올드팝 같지만 상당히 세련된 분위기는

 

스튜디오에서 Live로 녹음한 결과물인 것 같습니다. 영리한 계산인 것이지요..

 

자신의 영역을 꾸준하게 지키는 아티스트로 느껴집니다.  

 

Sisyphus가 수록된 앨범 쟈켓도 아주 특이합니다. 마라의 죽음이라는 그림을 패러디했다고 해야 하나?

 

저랑 비슷한 연배인데... 이 사람의 음악을 좀 더 들어봐야겠습니다.
